EXCLUSIVELY DESIGNED BY Sacha Lees at Weta Workshop - the same team nominated for three Academy Awards and winner of two prestigious BAFTA Awards - these 2001 Fellowship of the Ring Presentation Packs represent a superb and unique opportunity to commemorate their monumental cinematic achievement. Unaware of how successful Peter Jackson’s movies would be, New Zealand Post printed a much smaller number of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ stamps relative to the larger print runs for the later movies. A second Presentation Pack was issued in December 2002 for the ‘The Two Towers’ and a third Presentation Pack was released in November 2003 to commemorate ‘The Return of the King’; both are now OOP.
ALL ITEMS ARE new and individually mounted inside archival-quality clear pouches permitting easy removal, and the triple-fold Fellowship of the Ring Presentation Pack folio is sealed in a heavy-duty clear protective slipcase. The Presentation Pack also provides detailed information about the official 2001 ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ stamp issue and the award-winning motion picture it celebrates. Folio’s front cover features a silk-screened silhouette of The Fellowship on the march against a charcoal background, with the Official Movie logo set above in gold and brown. Presentation Pack measures 8 1/4 H x 23 5/8 W inches; 21 x 60 cm fully opened, and 8 1/4 H x 9 1/2 W inches; 21 x 24 cm folded. See below for further information about First Day Covers and Miniature Sheets.
AS AN ADDED Bonus, your 2001 Fellowship of the Ring Presentation Pack will be mailed using additional ‘The Lord of the Rings’ gummed stamps on the outer package, and include a highly-collectible ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ stamps leaflet (both subject to availability).
Sheet with complete 2001 Fellowship of the Ring set of self-adhesive stamps and official ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’ logo. Designed for postal vending machines, they are a different size (1 x 1 1/2 inches; 26 x 37 mm) and aspect ratio than the gummed stamps (1 x 2 inches; 25 x 50 mm), and as a result are more fully framed.
Envelope featuring a Ringwraith, one of the servants of Sauron, affixed with 2001 Definitive set of six gummed Fellowship of the Ring stamps postmarked on the first day (December 4, 2001) of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’ stamp issue.

Miniature Sheets: Regular perforated stamps set in an attached illustrated panel showing the origin of the stamp, each of which are derived from key scenes in ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ motion picture.
First Day Covers: Pictorial envelopes which are issued and stamped with a specifically-designed cancellation postmark that is only used for that day and issue. The cancellation stamp for this Fellowship of the Ring First Day Cover is a stylized Eye of Sauron encircled by the words ‘The Fellowship of the Ring, First Day of Issue, 4 December 2001, Stamps Centre Wanganui New Zealand’. First Day Covers are very collectable since they are hard to obtain after issuance. This Fellowship of the Ring stamps issue was only released in New Zealand in a limited print run of approx. 10,000 and sold out quickly.
Additional Info: Loose gummed and self-adhesive stamps are unhinged mint (UHM), and First Day Covers (FDC) are unaddressed. Technical details are available. A subsequent ‘The Two Towers’ Presentation Pack was issued in December 2002 and a third ‘The Return of the King’ Presentation Pack was released in November 2003 to commemorate the Middle-earth movie trilogy.
